Tactile sensors that use vision are suitable for industrial applications because they can obtain high-resolution tactile information, simplify wiring, and are easy to manufacture with high durability. FingerVision, which we are developing, has the added feature of enabling multimodal sensing by constructing the skin from a transparent material.

In this lecture, we explained the basic theory of visual-tactile sensors and their applications to sensing and especially robot manipulation.
